Sheep, Wool, Baby Animals, and the Story Behind What We Wear

Where does wool come from? What do farmers actually do every single day? What does it mean to care for something that depends on you?

Animal Husbandry Camp answers those questions by putting children right in the middle of it. Campers help herd the sheep, watch a real shearing demonstration, learn how raw wool becomes yarn, and spend time with baby goats and kittens on the last day. Along the way, they'll hear Bible lessons about being faithful stewards of the animals God has entrusted to us.

This camp is for kids who want to do the real thing — not just observe it.

3-Day Schedule

Caring for Farm Animals

9:00 AM — Arrival & Welcome Check in, meet other campers, and get introduced to the farm and animal safety.

9:20 AM — Bible Time Theme: Caring for God's creation and being faithful stewards of the animals He has entrusted to us.

9:40 AM — Morning Farm Chores Collect eggs, feed the animals, and refill water buckets.

10:10 AM — Sheep Herding & Shearing Campers help move the sheep as a flock, learn why shepherds rotate animals, and watch (or safely assist with) a live sheep shearing demonstration. They'll discover how wool is harvested and why it matters.

10:45 AM — Pig Care Campers feed the pigs, help move them to fresh ground, and learn why pigs are rotated across the farm and what benefit they bring to the land.

11:20 AM — Creek Adventure Supervised play in the stream. Bring a swimsuit, towel, and water shoes.

From Wool to Yarn

9:00 AM — Arrival & Welcome

9:20 AM — Bible Time Theme: God gives each of us different gifts, and when we work together, amazing things can be created.

9:40 AM — Morning Farm Chores Collect eggs, feed animals, water animals.

10:10 AM — Wool Workshop Campers follow raw wool through the full process — cleaning, dyeing, preparing for spinning, and learning how yarn is made. Children participate in hands-on demonstrations throughout.

11:15 AM — Field Games Frisbee, soccer, tag, Duck Duck Goose, and cooperative team games.

Caring for Baby Animals

9:00 AM — Arrival & Welcome

9:20 AM — Bible Time Theme: Kindness, compassion, and caring for those who depend on us.

9:40 AM — Morning Farm Chores Collect eggs, feed animals, water animals.

10:10 AM — Baby Animal Care Campers meet and spend time with baby goats and kittens, learn how young animals grow, practice safe and gentle animal handling, and discover how farmers care for newborns.

11:00 AM — Animal Encounters & Creek Adventure Time with the baby animals followed by supervised creek play to close out the week.
