WHAT DOEs FARMING WITH NATURE MEAN?
Evelyne's Farm believes in the power of giving back to God's creation. for every acre of land we put into production we have restored an acre of wildlife habitat on the farm. A 50% tithe back module is not common in commercial agriculture but it could be. Here on Evelyne's farm, we are putting in the work to prove that farming with nature is the most sustainable & profitable way to farm.

Invasive Plant Management
It Means... Removing thousands of invasive plants, trees & shrubs from our land.
When we first moved on to our farm it was covered in an invasive Brier Rose. That was choking out all the native baby trees. We spent months cutting down & digging out hundreds of these roses. A standard farm practice is to burn all removed roses, releasing the carbon into the atmosphere. Instead, we strategically placed all the dead roses alongside existing wildlife pathways. Creating hiding places, nesting sights, and dens for wildlife. We also have a flock of goats to continue to clean brush & umbrella overgrown trees for us.

Waist Management
It Means... Removing truckloads of illegally dumped toxic chemicals & trash. When we first purchased our property it had been vacant for 6 years. At that time people had been dumping anything the trash man won't take such as Paint Cans, Refrigerators, and Expired Pesticides... right into our stream. It took us weeks to find & dispose of all the trash but it was worth it. Once we got all of the chemicals out of the water it allowed the wildlife to return in abundance. We had frogs for the first time this spring. We also walk the stream after every big rainstorm to remove all the trash that has washed downstream. It's not uncommon for us to fill 5-10 trash bags after every big rain.

Riparian Buffer
It Means... Planting thousands of native riparian buffer trees so that wildlife such as Frogs, Birds & Fish have homes & food.
We were blessed to get to work with the 10 Million Tree PA program that gave us 600 riparian buffer trees in the spring of 2023 & the U.S. Forest Serves that brought dozens of kids to our farm to help us plant them. Our goal is to plant 1200 trees a year up to 25' off our streams to create habitat for wildlife & clean the water that runs through our farm.

Feeding The Birds
It Means... Seeding our production fields with wildflowers.
We were blessed to work with the Audubon Society & received 5 acres worth of native wildflower seeds for a 1/3 of their normal cost. we planted the seeds in our cut flower fields. & have allowed them to take over after each flower crop has been harvested. it looks a little messy but it created habitat & food for migrating birds & butterflies. our field is one of the only places in our area where monarch butterfly caterpillars are easy to find.

A Place To Call Home
It Means... Inviting the Deer, Foxes & other furry friends to have a safe home on our farm.
We know that deer are a destructive force on a traditional farm & can wipe out entire copes in one night. We intentionally created places on our farm for the deer to nest & safely raise their young away from our crops. We seeded those areas with all their favorite things to eat & have allowed the wildflowers to become tall enough that the deer can hide & have some privacy.
Persistence is our flower guardian dog. Her job is to roam around the flower fields greet guests & bark at deer. She LOVES it!!!

Clean Living
It Means... Using non-harsh chemicals on our farm or in our home.
We have a rule on our farm. If I wouldn't drink it, Nature shouldn't either. people forget that every household cleaner sprayed in their homes ends up in our water system. All cleaning products used on our farm are plant-based & safe to drink. We might need to scrub a little longer, but we feel it's a fair trade.
